If you are planning a trip to Peru once international travel opens up, you are no doubt wondering when the best time to visit is. The last thing you want to do is to visit when the weather isn’t ideal for what you have planned (such as the trek to Machu Picchu or Colca Canyon), so it pays to do your research so you can plan your trip accordingly.
Luckily for you, this article right here has the answers you’ve been looking for, so make sure to share it with your friends and family!
The best time to visit Peru is between May and the start of October, which is when you can expect the most sunshine and clear blue skies (however in the Andes come nightfall, it’s chilly as to be expected). This time of year is Peru’s dry season, and because of the attractive weather on offer, naturally it’s one of the most popular times of the year for travellers around the world to visit—meaning if you plan on booking flights, accommodation, or a Valencia Travel Cusco tour, it’s best to plan ahead to make sure you don’t miss out.
If you are coming to Peru to hit the sparkling coast, sip cocktails on the beach, down a few beers and go surfing, then the hottest months are the best time to go, which is in January through to March. Cities such as Lima really come alive in the summer, and it’s a fantastic way to skip the winter blues depending on what part of the world you’re coming from (such as the US, Canada, or Europe).
Of course, just because this is the best time to visit, doesn’t mean that other times of the year aren’t great also. For example, many travellers prefer visiting outside this period in order to take advantage of lower airfares, cheaper accommodation rates, and less hustle and bustle as they seek a quieter trip. In fact, some of the best trips our team have experienced have come out of season—so don’t be shy if this is the only time you can find to make your travel dreams come true!
