During the last two decades, Peru has emerged as one of the world’s most vibrant culinary destinations. Thanks in part to the work of Peruvian celebrity chefs such as Gastón Acurio, Peruvian cuisine has taken to the world stage, and more and more tourists are coming to Peru as much to sample the food as to see the wealth of attractions the country has to offer.
One of the reasons why Peru is such an interesting culinary destination is the country’s incredible range of ingredients, from the coast, the highlands, and the jungle. Our half-day gastronomy experience takes place in Cusco, and as such is a showcase for traditional Andean cuisine. Many of the ingredients will be new to visitors, which isn’t surprising considering the huge amount of products produced in the highlands – a region with 3,000 species of potato and 55 varieties of corn! Peruvian Folklore Show and Dinner
Cusco is famous for its colorful folklore shows, which represent Andean culture and its many myths and legends. And there are few better ways to experience one of these shows than at the Tunupa Cusco Restaurant, where we’ll take you for a show and a fantastic Novo-Andean meal. The popular restaurant is located in the center of Cusco, and from its balcony, you can enjoy views of the cathedral. Make sure you’re hungry, because a fabulous 3-course dinner awaits us, with a large selection dishes from the region – a great wait to sample more of what Cusco has to offer. If you have any dietary requirements- No problem! We also cater for all dietary preferences.
Then, of course, there’s the wonderful folkloric show. It’s an authentic display of traditional music and dance from Cusco, with Andean instruments like the quena, charango, flute, and zampoña. The folkloric performance is bright, colorful, and full of energy. You can even hit the dance floor and join in with the Andean dancers!
