Lake Titicaca is a beautiful freshwater lake that straddles the border between Bolivia and Peru. It’s a mystical place, and according to legend, it was here that the Inca civilization was born, according to mythology. We will explore the small indigenous communities around the lake. To see what life is really like around the high-altitude, windswept, and stunning waters of Lake Titicaca, on the Bolivian side! At the heart of many legends lies Isla del Sol, the “Island of the Sun,” the largest island on Lake Titicaca. We will also visit its counterpart, the Island of the Moon, and its magnificent temples. These are just some of the impressive destinations on our two-day tour of the communities of Lake Titicaca!

We begin our day early in the morning with a transfer from La Paz to the indigenous community of Huatajata, found on the shores of the enormous Titicaca Lake on The Bolivian side of the lake.  We will visit the Andean Roots Eco Village, The   Altiplano Museum,  the Handicrafts Village, the adobe domes, and the mortuary towers of the Urus people of Titicaca.

We will then visit Chipayas.  Here, the famous  Limachi family will greet us in the community.  This famous family built the famous totora reed boats who made an epic expedition across the Atlantic Ocean. You can also meet vicuñas, llamas, alpacas, and the almost mythical Suri- All of the South American Cameloids.

In the afternoon, we will enjoy the magical experience of "The Mystic World of the Kallawayas", the natural healers of Bolivia - also called Shamans. These healers believe that you first have to heal the soul in order to heal your body. Tata Benjo, is our Kallawaya Shaman for this activity and he will bless visitors and answer any questions using his sacred coca leaves.

In the evening, under the nighttime skies, we will visit the Native Observatory   Alajpacha. Here we will learn all about the Aymara  Cosmovision, their constellations, and their relationship with the earth, and we can star gaze the southern constellations of the Bolivian night skies over Lake Titicaca.
