Most people visit Peru for between 1 and 2 weeks. One week is a solid time to visit Peru for the main highlights. In 1 week, you can combine a comfortably-paced visit to Machu Picchu with another region, such as the Amazon or Lake Titicaca or take day trips from Cusco throughout the Sacred Valley. If you don't mind skipping Machu Picchu, you can explore several lesser-visited areas like northern Peru, the Ballestas Islands, and the Colca Canyon. Trekkers can easily spend three days hiking—consider Huchuy Qosqo or Lares treks to Machu Picchu, or trek off the beaten path in the Huaraz and Cordillera Huayuash region. If you have a little longer, you can combine the Cusco region with Lake Titicaca and the Amazon or even include the Arequipa and Colca Canyon region, depending on your time scale.

A week or Less

If you have less than a week to explore this wonderful country, you will probably want to concentrate on one region. The Machu Picchu Express or Machu Picchu Luxury Express are Peru trips under a week where you can experience Peru´s significant attractions as well as Cusco and The Sacred Valley.

Empty Machu Picchu

1-2 weeks

If you have more time available, the main areas to visit are Lake Titicaca and Puno, Arequipa and the Amazon, and Cusco and Machu Picchu.  Here are some of our options within the 2-week time frame. The 9-day Best of Peru offers the Cusco region, Machu Picchu, Puno and Lake Titicaca,Machu Picchu, Puno and Lake Titicaca and the capital Lima. The slightly longer version for 12 days is The Peru Express which includes the above destinations at a more relaxed pace with more time in each destination. If you have longer time-wise, you may want to think about our 14-day Colours of Peru, which also includes The Amazon Jungle, Arequipa, and 14-day Colours of Peru, which also consists of the Amazon Jungle; as well as Arequipa and the Colca Canyon! If you don’t mind missing out on the Amazon jungle experience, the 13- day Sacred Land of The Incas takes you to the same destinations without the Amazon. Still, it includes the magnificent Paracas Reserve and the impressive Nazca Lines.

Amantani, Lake Titicaca

Two weeks or more

If you have longer than two weeks, you may prefer a more in-depth experience such as the 15-day Best of Magical Peru, which explores the Amazon, Puno, Colca Canyon,  Machu Picchu Cusco and Lima.
