For a city surrounded by desert, it may seem surprising that Ica and the surrounding region produce such large quantities of asparagus, cotton, and fruits. Not to mention its status as the premier grape-growing and pisco-making region in Peru.

You will first visit 'El Catador' winery. Here, you will learn about the production of grape-based products such as Pisco and the popular sweet wine Perfecto Amor, using traditional methods.

The second stop is the 'Vista Alegre,' an industrial winery with beautiful vintage architecture from the era of the Jesuit Order. At this location, you will learn about the process for regular red and white wines, products that can only be made from European grape varieties.

The last stop on the tour is 'Tacama,' one of the most renowned industrial wineries, located in a former facility that used to be a monastery of the Augustinian Order.

Join us to experience the regional winemaking traditions along the Ica Pisco Route, where you will witness the production process of Peru's national drink in the artisanal and industrial wineries we have selected for you.

If you’re interested in pisco, Peru’s national liquor, then you’ll get a real kick out of this trip. The Ica Pisco tour will introduce you to the vineyards that produce pisco and show you how pisco has slowly evolved into a mainstay of Peruvian bars – most famously in pisco sours.

Our tour begins with a visit to Bodega El Catador to learn about the artisanal pisco-making process. El Catador means “the taster” in English, and you’ll most definitely have the chance to taste some excellent pisco varieties here. This bodega has a long and storied history, and the traditional vineyard has been producing pisco since 1856.

Next, we’ll visit Hacienda Vista Alegre, a large winery that produces 7 million liters of wine and 5 million liters of Pisco per year. It’s fascinating to see the scale of the industrial process here, especially after seeing the artisanal process earlier in the tour. We’ll learn about the modern techniques and equipment used here, all of which are under the control of the winery’s Italian specialist.

Finally, we’ll visit the Tacama vineyards, built in the sixteenth century and located on a beautiful old hacienda. This is the oldest functioning vineyard in Peru and produces excellent wines and piscos. Here we’ll be shown the larger-scale pisco-making process, and again have the chance to sample the finished product.

After visiting Tacama Winery, we’ll take you back to your hotel, where you might want a quick nap after all the pisco tasting!
