Despite sustaining significant earthquake damage in 2007, the city of Ica in southern Peru has plenty of charm and numerous attractions. For a city surrounded by desert, it may seem surprising that Ica and the surrounding region produce such large quantities of asparagus, cotton and fruits, not to mention its status as the premier grape-growing and pisco-making region in Peru.
Our full-day Ica city tour will take you to all the most interesting spots in and just outside the city. We’ll visit the Regional Museum, one of the best museums on the south coast of Peru. We’ll also get a firsthand look at the region’s produce, with a trip to a chocolate factory and a wonderful winery. To top it off, we’ll visit the Huacachina Lagoon, the famous oasis village surrounded by huge sand dunes, eucalyptus, palm trees and huarango trees. Here you can ride the dunes in a sand buggy, and slide down them on a sand board.
If you want to see even more of Ica, take a look at our available extensions after the main city tour itinerary.
