    Trip Overview

    The Irapay Luxury Resort provides a wonderful location from which to explore the Amazon rainforest near Iquitos. Situated on the banks of the Rio Momon, the resort is strategically positioned between the indigenous Yaguas and Boras communities. It’s also close to a number of fantastic attractions, including the village of Padre Cocha, the wonderful Pilpintuwasi butterfly farm and animal sanctuary, the Amazon animal orphanage, and the Fundo Pedrito alligator farm. It’s also just a 45-minute boat ride from the city of Iquitos.   

    The luxury resort has 50 guestrooms, a large swimming pool with a swim-up bar, multiple restaurants and bars, a gym and a spa, and various other facilities. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to explore the Amazon while staying in extreme comfort with plenty of opportunities to relax and unwind.

    Your Amazon adventure begins when we pick you up from the airport or your hotel in Iquitos. Then we’ll head to the port of Bellavista-Nany to board our river boat. Cruising along the Amazon River, we’ll soon arrive at a wonderful confluence where the Amazon, Itaya, Nanay and Momón rivers meet. Along the way, we might see some gray and pink river dolphins.

    Day 2: Bird Watching

    On Day 2 we’ll wake up early in the morning and head out on the boat to go bird watching. This is a great time to head out, as we can see the jungle coming to life and watch the morning activities of many colorful birds. We’ll then return for a buffet breakfast.

    Day 3: Insectarium and Indigenous Community

    Day 3 begins with bugs! After a buffet breakfast we’ll head out on an excursion to the Insectarium, where you can see the incredible range of weird and wonderful insects that live in the Amazon. After lunch, we’ll visit a second indigenous community where you can learn more about the tribal traditions and customs of the rainforest. You’ll have the afternoon free to enjoy the pool and other facilities at the resort.

    On your last day we’ll take you for a boat excursion on the Amazon River, where we’ll search for and observe another icon of the Amazon: the pink river dolphin. Many legends surround these beautiful creatures, and seeing them up close is a wonderful experience.
